Another Fine Sisterhood of PICKLEBALL With Heart!

November 2025, A group of thirty-six women along with three coaches from throughout the U.S.A., from Connecticut to California, all arrived in Punta Cana for the start of our adventure. Designed by Melinda Alcosser, these Carpe Dink’em Pickleball journeys combine group pickleball instruction with expert coaches, lots of play, group activities, and connection with local organizations in each destination.

We assemble and do some ice breaker games getting the laughter going from the start!  The week begins. An all-inclusive resort, staying in the Zen Oasis adult-only section of Club Med’s newly renovated Punta Cana Club Med. As the first resort on the island, it occupies a large section of oceanfront.

The Zen pool, an Olympic size infinity swimming pool, along with the nearby beachfront invite tranquility and playfulness. As do the pickleball courts, where we find ourselves each day.

Lessons are unique, building in a series to cover the entire game strategy of the first 5 points. Live for the Five!  How often does a pickleball game gets to the fifth shot, … we play on!

This experience included a visit to a local school where we shared pickleball play with students and staff. Part of the Pickleball With Heart element in each of Melinda’s Carpe Dink’em group trips. This is the third visit to Calasanz Bavaro School. It provides a chance for people to connect, form friendships and build community.

So often there is fear around leaving a resort. This experience is designed with the intention to break down those barriers, inviting connection and understanding. Group members say that the experience is often a great highlight of the trip and they are so glad to have this opportunity to to meet and spend time with local people, who are so welcoming and enthusiastic.

As one participant shares, she “… felt this was a very important and enlightening part of our trip. The resort doesn't offer real insight as to how the local people live and daily challenges they face. Love how excited the students and staff were to see us. Unfortunately, I doubt a US school would have half the excitement for guests. I do wish more of our group would have participated for the experience and ability to give to those less fortunate than us.”

The energy of the students was palpable, as we engaged in activities such as group juggle, improvised paddle/ball toss, and some pickleball play.  Carpe Dink’em groups over the years donate paddles, ball and net to the school for students to continue to enjoy the game. This group, the older set will each the younger students to play!

Some comments from the group:

I had an amazing time at an all-women’s pickleball retreat in Punta Cana! The coaching was fantastic, the games were fun, and I met so many wonderful people from across the US. If you’re into travel, pickleball, and meeting new friends, this kind of trip is a must.

This trip was absolutely wonderful. The coaching was fantastic, the experience was empowering and sharing it with such an incredible group of women made it truly special. I’d love to do it again.

Carpe Dink’em Pickleball next trip to Antigua still has openings for both the Coed and Sisterhood adventures – join us and find your way to the courts and to lots of fun!  The March 2026 trip supports Victory Centre School for Autistic Children.
